Miriam Rubin is a Somatic Practitioner, American Interfaith Minister, and Purpose Guide™. Miriam is a 4th generation New Yorker, living on Lenapehoking land / NYC.
Growing up in a suburban development on Long Island, with little connection to the earth, Miriam struggled with anxiety and depression, and always felt a subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) disconnection from the earth. As a teenager, Miriam met Earl and Aiesha Meshigaud, the spiritual leaders of the Pottowatomi Tribe who became her first spiritual mentors. With their guidance, Miriam identified that her anxiety and feelings of disconnection from the web of life and the earth, were related to the trauma that her ancestors faced when they were forced to leave their homes generation after generation. Upon learning this, Miriam has been on a quest of discovering pathways of somatic and ancestral healing, and re-patterning the nervous system to re-establish healthy patterns of connection to the earth, to lineage, and to members of our human family.
Miriam earned her Bachelors degree at Barnard College in Environmental Science, where she studied the impacts of climate change on the relationship to pollen production in Northeast plant populations. Miriam was an outdoor educator for 7 years, where she guided hundreds of students to learn about their relationship with the earth, and designed unique rites of passage programs that supported adolescent development. She earned her Massage Therapy License in 2013 and specializes in Somatic Education, trigger-point therapy, and somatic-neural pathway re-education. After being guided through the Soul Purpose Discovery Process under the mentorship of Jonathan Gustin, Miriam found the work to be so profound that she decided to train as a Purpose Guide™. In 2020, Miriam received ordination as an Interfaith Minister during the Global Pandemic. As an ordained interfaith minister, Miriam co-founded the Web of Life Community of NYC with Farez Hernandez and is co-creating an Eco-Ministry supporting individuals to connect with their authentic soul’s purpose, with the earth, and with one another. She is proud and humbled to be able to offer this profound integration of practices through Soulmatic Guiding and Healing work.
Miriam’s approach to healing and her eco- ministry is guided by a commitment to creating safety, support, and activated accompaniment. In creating a sacred space, the true guide of the soul is invited to fully participate.
After 7 years as the Director of Programming, and Director of Membership at Romemu, NYC’s largest Jewish Renewal community, Miriam currently works with 11-13 year old students at the Director of Rite of Passages at Wayfinders on the Hudson, works 1:1 with Somatic Bodywork clients, and works 1:1 with families to offer a Holistic B-Mitzvah experience.
